October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the idea is to educate women and men and to raise money for the cure. Sometimes women are afraid to go see their doctors, but this is the time to do it. Grab a friend and make an appointment.

The American Cancer Society works closely with health departments and health care systems to provide free mammograms. Call 1-800-227-2345 for more information.

2012

"How can I prepare myself to live in a Global society"

Eligibility:

  • Open to Minority high school seniors
  • Applicants must be applying to a four-year college
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA

Application Rules:

         Submit one letter of recommendation from a teacher or advisor at your high school and a reference from a community leader

         A recent photograph of yourself

         Official Transcript

         500 word essay (typed & double spaced) on:

"How can I prepare myself to live in a Global society"

         All entries must be received by April 1, 2012

         Name of High School, address, and email

Students first and last name

                     Mailing address, phone and/or email address  

Scholarship awards:

  • The awards are 8 laptop computers to the mailed to the scholarship recipients
  • A college acceptance letter from winning applicants must be received before disbursements, due date June 30, 2012.
